Columbia Road flower market

SAMSUNG CSCBeing an autumn baby, I usually welcome the drop in temperature because it signals the lead up to my birthday – only 9 days to go! But for some reason we’re experiencing an oddly mild autumn, which is actually ideal for spending days outside. Yesterday Elliot and I meandered over to the Columbia Road flower market in East London. Other than crowds of people, you’ll find yourself surrounded by stalls of beautifully blossoming flowers of all kinds, as well as plants to grow your own fruits and the like. It’s free if you don’t buy anything, and relatively cheap if you do! I’d never been before yesterday, but supposedly it has been completely transformed from the quaint street market that it used to be. The road is now lined with individual cafes, hole-in-the-wall coffee and snack stands, antique shops and mini vintage markets that are typical of Shoreditch, and make for a great atmosphere.

Just holding a bunch of flowers in my hand had me smiling away. If you’re looking for something to do this Sunday then let’s hope this mild weather holds up long enough for you to mosey on over to Columbia Road.
