Lake Como

So instead of sitting in my cold house in this cold country moping about no longer being in Lake Como, as I was last week, I’m channeling my ‘post-holiday depression’ into sharing my week with you. This was my family’s first holiday together in 7 years (joined by my boyfriend and my brother’s girlfriend also), and it’s safe to say my parents really did spoil us all to make up for lost time! I’ve been to Italy twice before this and each time I left it even more in love with the country than I was before, but Lake Como is definitely a contender for the most beautiful place that I have ever been.

Situated on the side of a hill in Argegno, our villa overlooked the vast expanse of the lake, surrounded by trees, water, and pure blissEveryday started out basking in the 30˚ sun by the pool, and if we could tear ourselves away we were ferry hopping from town to town. One afternoon though we were our own drivers, and hired a speedboat on the lake. It was the highlight of the holiday without a doubt. Whilst the men grappled over who got to drive, I was pretty content snapping away on my camera and sunning it up in the back seat. That’s before we took a mid-afternoon dip in the crystal clear water, of course. We also saw a bridal party arriving by boat at Villa Balbianello, a luxury villa protruding into the middle of the lake (which was featured in Casino Royale), and I vowed to myself that I wouldn’t get married anywhere else; my poor, poor future husband…

Italy at its finest! Sitting on the waterfront sipping a prosecco cocktail and watching the sun begin to set, I was in heaven. It was a week that I definitely won’t be forgetting anytime soon – nor will you, because there will be more photos and reminiscing to come!
