Met Ball 2014

Let’s all pass around the tissues as we cry tears of joy, jealousy, awe and despair that it is not ourselves sporting such beautiful gowns to such a prestigious event. Anybody who is somebody graced the red carpet with their presence last night for the Met Ball 2014, all putting their own spin on ‘ball’ appropriate attire. Here are some of my favourites.

All hail Queen B! And King Jay… Never one to disappoint, this Givenchy Haute Couture dress is the perfect balance of sophisticated, revealing and glamorous for the woman of the decade.

The question is: who wouldn’t want to look like (or be) Blake Lively? Ryan Reynolds aside, this hot mama could make a discarded dominos box appealing, let alone this Gucci Premiere gown. Now back to Ryan Reynolds…

Following suit, Leighton Meester herself donned a beautifully crafted Emilio Pucci gown. Gossip Girl has obviously encouraged cleavage, but I think it’s safe to say Blake wins the battle of the breasts. Sorry Blaire!

Hardly one for convention, Cara Delevigne challenged the formality of the occasion by wearing (and working) a monochrome pairing. As is to be expected, there was only praise for her extremely unique look, and I’m guessing plenty of envy for how easily she can pull of the crop top!

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s sweet facade and extremely simple tastes have always inspired me. Her pale tones and often subtle clothing choices suit her well, so I was surprised to see her standing her ground in Balmain last night. Has the good girl gone bad? If so, I love it.
